In 1996, Matt and Shirley Briley started ACS out of their Kailua-Kona home. With a toddler in tow and a truck in the driveway, they served neighbors with a promise: treat every client like ‘ohana.
Their honest approach and demand for technical precision built trust quickly. As word spread, ACS grew from a neighborhood service into the Big Island’s go-to partner for complex residential and commercial HVAC projects. Today, we remain family owned, locally operated, and driven by the same founding values.

ACS is not a franchise or satellite office. We’re built here—and built for here.
Operating from a 10,000+ sq. ft. facility in the Kaloko Light Industrial Park, we maintain the island’s largest HVAC parts inventory and support a fleet of over 30 service vehicles. Our in-house sheet metal and copper fabrication shop allows us to produce custom components on-site, bypassing mainland delays and ensuring durability in Hawai‘i’s climate.

Matt Briley
President & Founder
A longtime resident and dual-licensed contractor in Hawai‘i and California, Matt is certified by the American Indoor Air Quality Council and an active member of ASHRAE and ACCA. He has taught Manual J load calculations, duct design, and system sizing, ensuring ACS leads with expertise.
Shirley Briley
CFO & Co-Founder
With a background in finance and business leadership, including serving as a former VP at Merrill Lynch, Shirley built the company’s operational backbone. As CFO since 1995, she ensures that ACS remains financially sound and operationally efficient while delivering lasting service and warranty support to clients.
